According to Fedorov’s PR team, the visit will focus on developing joint defense initiatives.
“The main goal of the trip, which is potentially planned, is to attract resources for new projects in defense tech,” Fedorov’s press service told Suspilne.
The team said the visit does not include meetings with U.S. government officials or political leaders.
On Aug. 19, The Kyiv Independent reported that Fedorov could travel to the United States as early as next week. The Guardian suggested the trip might be an attempt to seek Washington’s backing for holding wartime elections in Ukraine.
On Aug. 18, he posted a video on his YouTube channel
calling for elections in Ukraine, saying Russia has no right to determine when
Ukrainians can again choose their leaders. The Guardian described Fedorov’s
appeal as “the most direct political challenge to Volodymyr Zelenskyy since
Russia’s full-scale invasion.”
