Smoke plume stretches over 120 km after drone strikes in Perm – satellite image

The smoke from the fire stretched for more than 120 kilometers.

On April 30, new explosions were reported in Russia’s Perm Krai following a drone strike by Ukraine’s Security Service on April 29 and a large fire at the Perm oil pumping station. Videos circulating online showed thick white smoke rising over the city of Perm.

Earlier reports said that nearly all fuel storage tanks at the oil pumping station caught fire after the April 29 strike.

The facility belongs to Transneft and is a strategic hub of Russia’s main oil transportation system. According to Ukraine’s Security Service, the station distributes oil in four directions, including to the Perm refinery.

Following the strike, the city was covered in dense black smoke, and reports described “oil rain,” similar to what was observed earlier in Tuapse after strikes on a port and refinery.

The Perm linear production and dispatch station is located about 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
