As seen by residents and reported by local officials, the air strike caused multiple fires in southwestern Kyiv, leading, in turn, to rapidly worsening air quality across the city.
“After the [air raid] alert ends and you return home, please close your windows,” Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv City Administration, said in a Telegram post at 3:26 a.m. on July 4.
“There is a high concentration of combustion products in the air.”
Enemy drones and their debris have struck at least 13 locations in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts, as well as city suburbs.
Tkachenko previously confirmed several fires in residential buildings in the Solomianskyi district.
“We have several fires in Solomianskyi [district], all in residential buildings; we are verifying casualty information,” he reported at 1:28 a.m.
Casualty figures are still pending.
