Drone strike sparks fire at warehouse in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district

Fires caused by Russian drone strikes were extinguished overnight in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district, Ukraine’s emergency service said on April 12.

Fires broke out at two locations in Kyiv following a Russian drone attack, causing significant damage, emergency officials said.

Pavlo Petrov, a spokesperson for Kyiv’s State Emergency Service, told Kyiv24 that a one-story warehouse spanning about 16,000 square feet caught fire.

The building was heavily cluttered and stored food and medicine, complicating firefighters’ work.

Explosions were heard overnight on April 12 as air defenses responded. The attack damaged sites in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts and left three people injured, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia launched 88 drones overnight. Air defenses downed 56, while 24 others lost contact.
