Rescuers extinguish fires at Ternopil industrial site after one of largest Russian attacks

Rescuers localized all fire hotspots, fully put out the blaze and prevented it from spreading to adjacent buildings.

A total of 102 firefighters and 31 pieces of equipment were involved in the operation.  

On May 1, Ternopil Oblast faced one of the largest air attacks of the war, with Russia launching 36 drones at the area, according to regional military governor Taras Pastukh. Air defenses downed 27 of them. Local authorities reported several strikes on industrial sites, causing strong fires and smoke in Ternopil and leaving parts of the city without power. 11 people were injured, seven of whom were hospitalized, Mayor Serhii Nadal said.  

Nationwide, Russia carried out a major assault on May 1 using 409 drones of various types. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 388, with 16 striking their targets.
