Ukraine secures French grant for health, energy, and infrastructure reconstruction

The funds will be allocated to various sectors including healthcare, energy, water supply, demining, digital technologies, infrastructure, agriculture, waste management, and housing construction.

Half of the grant will be used to purchase Ukrainian goods and services, while the other half will be used to purchase French goods and services for Ukraine's reconstruction needs. 

It is now up to France to decide which projects will be funded. 

On June 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron signed two agreements in Paris to develop Ukraine’s critical infrastructure with a total amount of €650 million ($707 million) in loans and grants.

According to sources in the Élysée Palace, the deals to channel financial support for local authorities and critical infrastructure in Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector. The first agreement will allocate EUR 400 million in loans and EUR 50 million in grants to the French Development Agency by 2027, allowing it to “expand its operations in Ukraine.” The agency will provide support for energy and transportation development projects.

The second agreement for €200 million will offer “support to French companies in future tenders in the fields of energy, transportation, water supply and sanitation, healthcare, and agriculture.”
