A company spokesperson highlighted the negotiations have already taken place, but a final decision has not yet been made, as Renault is still awaiting additional information from the French Defense Ministry.
As earlier reported by France Info, under the potential project, Renault will partner with a small French defense company to set up production lines on Ukrainian territory, located tens or even hundreds of kilometers from the front line. The drones manufactured through this initiative could be used by both Ukrainian forces and the French military.
The French Defense Ministry has declined to comment on Renault’s involvement. However, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu recently said that one of France’s major car manufacturers is partnering with a smaller French defense firm to establish drone production lines in Ukraine — though he did not name the company.
