Citing collaborators withing Russian special services, Atesh claims the provocations would be staged in Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories, coinciding with the celebrations of WWII Victory Day across Russia.
“Atesh agents working in various Russian security forces have shared information that Russian security services are planning provocations on May 9 with the aim of blaming them on resistance to Putin’s regime,” the statement posted via Telegram reads.
“This involves possible terrorist acts against civilians in Russia and on Ukraine’s occupied territories.”
The movement reiterated that its operations target only invading Russian troops and military facilities, not civilians.
“We act exclusively against occupation forces and military infrastructure,” the message added.
“We are not fighting peaceful people—we act in the interests of ordinary citizens. That is why the enemy fears us and is trying to smear our image.”
Earlier, independent Russian newspaper The Moscow Times reported that in Moscow officials began disrupting mobile Internet and communications ahead of the May 9 military parade rehearsals.
