A musician put on a performance with a Russian flag at the Tbilisi Open Air music festival in Georgia, Radio Liberty’s Ekho Kavkaza project reported on May 25. The act has already prompted Russia to launch a criminal case.

Singer Erekle Getsadze, during his performance at the event dedicated to Georgia's Independence Day, took the flag of the Russian Federation, threw it on the ground, then "crumpled" it and threw it into a bag. But the pièce de résistance was when the performer mimicked urinating on the Russian tricolor, much to the delight of the cheering audience.

The performance offended Moscow. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova was so outraged by what happened at the concert that she quipped, “when God did not give a man a brain, he has to work with other organs.” The Kremlin instructed to open a criminal case for desecration of the Russian flag.

Russian law enforcement agencies “will give this ugly act an appropriate assessment,” according to Zakharova.
