A German national has been detained in Poland on suspicion of brokering and exporting dual-use goods to Russia in breach of the trade restrictions imposed on Moscow after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Reuters reported on Nov. 27.

According to a statement from Poland's Internal Security Agency, "the German citizen was involved in trading specialized machines used in the technology industry, which were illegally sent to Russian military factories involved in weapons production through his company."

The suspect has confessed to the wrongdoing and is willing to accept appropriate punishment, according to the report.

A spokesperson for Germany's Foreign Ministry stated that the embassy in Warsaw is in contact with Polish authorities and is currently seeking details of the case.
