A transformer from a thermal power plant in the German city of Karlsruhe has been delivered to Ukraine to help stabilize electricity supply amid ongoing Russian attacks, German Embassy in Ukraine reported on Jan. 5.
Berlin has moved to support Ukraine’s energy system despite facing its own large-scale power outage. Mass blackout in southwestern Berlin has left around 50,000 homes without electricity — yet Germany still delivered critical equipment to help Ukraine withstand Russian attacks on its grid.
“The transformer from the Karlsruhe power plant has arrived in Ukraine," the embassy wrote.
"It will help stabilize electricity supply amid Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine’s energy system.”

The embassy added that the transformer was provided by the Rheinhafen Karlsruhe thermal power plant and delivered to Ukraine with the support of GIZ Ukraine.
