Gislaine Maxwell seeks pardon in exchange for clearing Trump’s name—report

The proposal, delivered by Maxwell’s attorney during her remote appearance before the House Oversight Committee, “ensures the Epstein saga will continue to remain a political hotspot,” the report said.

“Ms. Maxwell is prepared to speak fully and honestly if granted clemency by President Trump,” CNN quoted attorney David Oscar Markus.

“Only she can provide the complete account. Some may not like what they hear, but the truth matters. For example, both President Trump and President Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing.”

CNN noted that Trump has not ruled out granting Maxwell a pardon or commuting her sentence. Both he and former President Bill Clinton appear in the Epstein case files gradually released by the Justice Department, though both deny any misconduct connected to Epstein.

During the hearing, Maxwell invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) called her decision “very disappointing,” saying lawmakers “had many questions to ask about the crime she and Epstein committed, as well as questions about potential co-conspiracy.”

Democrats on the committee accused Maxwell of trying to buy her pardon by refusing to testify. “We will not let this silence stand,” said Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM).
