Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis proposed a transport corridor project that would link Greece’s port of Alexandroupolis with Ukraine’s Odesa via Varna in Bulgaria and Constanta in Romania.

Speaking at the Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit in Odesa on June 11, Mitsotakis said the project could receive support and funding from the European Union.

“I would like Odesa to be at one end of an ambitious, comprehensive infrastructure project that would begin at the port of Alexandroupolis, pass through Varna and Constanta, and finally reach Odesa,” he said.

Mitsotakis added that the proposed corridor could include railways, power lines, and pipelines, providing Ukraine with a new, faster logistical route that would be significantly more efficient than maritime transportation of raw resources and goods.

He suggested the project would demonstrate tangible benefits of European integration for Ukrainians and improve their quality of life. The PM also assured that Greece was ready to offer any necessary expert or technical assistance to Ukraine or other nations seeking to join the European Union.
