Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia Oblast is practically under Russian occupation and the initiative there is not with Ukraine’s forces, Roman Pohorilyi, co-founder and analyst at DeepState OSINT project, said in an interview with NV Radio on March 11.

“We [Ukraine] were still being credited with a counteroffensive in the Huliaipole area,” Pohorilyi criticized overly optimistic media reports on the battlefield situation in southern Ukraine.

“Huliaipole is practically lost, practically under the enemy’s occupation. It’s crawling with enemy troops; Russian infantry positions are everywhere. They’re trying to pull in their forces, are still sending additional resources and building up a concentration of forces.”

Pohorilyi said the occupying force is using infantry on foot, motorcycles, quad bikes, and passenger cars for attacks in the Huliaipole area; no armored vehicles have been observed.

“If we talk about Huliaipole, the initiative there is not on our side. We’re containing them, trying to slow their tempo, but they’re concentrating, accumulating, and pushing forward,” he added.
