Young Hungarian volunteer dies in battle against Russia in Ukraine

According to reports, he died in battle against Russian forces on May 24, 2025.

The young man came to Ukraine from Hungary specifically to fight against Russia. Before that, he served under contract in the Hungarian Armed Forces. According to Telex, he did not report for duty in Hungary in March 2023, which led to a criminal case being opened against him.

Unconfirmed information from a Ukrainian source indicates that Aser served in the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Hungarian diplomats are working to repatriate Aser’s body, but his father, Aser Natan, who lives in Canada, wants to bury his son either in Kyiv or Toronto.

Natan confirmed to Telex that his son was a contract soldier in the Hungarian Defense Forces before going to Ukraine and said he went to war earlier in 2023.

He also revealed that his son had autism and wanted to join the professional military corps but was rejected in Hungary.
