Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced his intention to sign a bilateral cooperation agreement between Hungary and Ukraine during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on July 2.

"We are trying to close all previous disputes and focus on the future," said the Hungarian official. "We want to improve relations between our countries. We want to conclude a global cooperation agreement with Ukraine, similar to the agreements we have with our other neighboring countries."

Orbán also stated that Hungary will participate in the modernization of the Ukrainian economy in accordance with its capabilities.

"There are many issues between our countries that need to be resolved, which we have negotiated in previous years," he added. "I came here to move forward in resolving these bilateral issues. This meeting is long overdue."

Zelenskyy discussed trade, cross-border cooperation, infrastructure, and energy issues with Orbán.

"We also talked about the humanitarian sphere – everything that affects the lives of our people in both Ukraine and Hungary," the Ukrainian president said on X.

Zelenskyy noted that the content of these talks could become the basis for a new bilateral document between the two countries.

"A new bilateral document between our countries, which will regulate all our relations, be based on a reciprocal approach to bilateral relations between Ukraine and Hungary, and allow our peoples to enjoy all the benefits of unity in Europe," Zelenskyy stated.

The Hungarian Prime Minister visited Kyiv for the first time in 12 years on July 2.
