According to rescuers, news spread on social media on July 12 that a "python" had been spotted in a tree in Kyiv. In reality, the animal turned out to be a boa constrictor. The Kyiv Animal Rescue Group said the snake decided to "put its natural climbing abilities on display" and escaped from its owner during a walk.
"Our animal rescue team went to help," the group said. “The tree climber turned out to be skilled and had no intention of coming down voluntarily, so the operation required patience, experience and coordinated teamwork.”
The Kyiv Animal Rescue Group said the operation was ultimately successful, and the snake was safely brought down from the tree and returned to its owner. The group urged owners of exotic pets to remain vigilant while walking their animals, noting that they remain animals with their own natural instincts.
