The incident occurred at the Frunze-1 air base during a training flight at about 11 a.m. local time. The fate of the crew is currently unknown.
Citing U.S. officials, the Washington Post reported that the Biden Administration is preparing new economic restrictions intended to pressure Kyrgyzstan into halting trade that helps Russia evade Western sanctions.
Kyrgyzstan has sharply increased its imports of goods from around the world, as well as exports to Russia, over the past year and a half. Some categories of goods have increased tenfold. Some goods, such as rifle scopes, had previously not been exported to Russia at all.
Records show that Kyrgyzstan's total exports to Russia skyrocketed by 250% in 2022.
