Iran’s permanent representative to the UN, Amir-Saeid Iravani, accused Ukraine of “active participation in military aggression against Iran” for sending experts to the Middle East to counter Iranian Shahed drones, NBC News reported on March 30.

In a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council published by the Iranian news agency IRNA, Iravani said Ukraine’s actions “aid or assist in the commission of an internationally wrongful act.”

“Providing operational and technical assistance that directly contributes to the use of force and acts of aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi responded by noting that Ukrainian drones never attacked Iran, in contrast with Tehran supplying Russia with kamikaze drones to target Ukrainian cities since 2022.

“Almost 60,000 drones shared by Iran with Russia have struck Ukraine since 2022,” Tykhyi said in a Twitter post.

“Not a single Ukrainian drone has ever hit Iran. This liar [Iravani] should’ve been long gone together with his regime.”
