“I gave one example to leaders of Middle Eastern countries. This is open-source information — video of Iranians attacking a helicopter in Iraq using FPV drones,” the Ukrainian leader said.
In Russia’s war against Ukraine these drones are used “only on the battlefield,” he added.
“Usually they have a range of 10–20 kilometers and create ‘kill zones’,” Zelenskyy stated.
This could reportedly signal Iran’s preparation for a ground operation.
“I said: ‘Look at this very carefully. I think if they start using FPV drones, it may mean preparation for a ground operation in one form or another’,” the Ukrainian leader told Axios.
He also emphasized that the use of FPV drones is experience that Russia has shared with Iran.
Moscow is interested in a prolonged war in the Middle East, according to Zelenskyy.
On March 20, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that a ground operation might be needed to change the regime in Iran.
On March 23, The Jerusalem Post reported, citing sources, that the United States is accelerating the deployment of additional forces to the Middle East amid the war with Iran. Thousands of Marines and sailors, including the USS Boxer and a Marine unit, are being sent to the region to strengthen the U.S. presence.
On March 29, The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon is preparing for ground operations in Iran, and if Trump approves the plans, such an operation could become a new phase of the war.
