At the urging of their government, Iranian civilians have formed human chains around critical infrastructure facilities to deter U.S. attacks on April 7.

“On Tuesday at 2 p.m., at power plants across the country we will stand shoulder to shoulder to say: attacking civilian infrastructure is a war crime,” Rahimi said.

Iran’s Mehr news agency later published photos and video showing people forming human chains around several power stations and on a bridge in Ahvaz.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned the United States could strike power plants, bridges, and other infrastructure in Iran if Tehran did not reach an agreement or open the Strait of Hormuz. On April 5, he gave Iran until Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT to make a deal.
