“The message of President Putin and the support of the Russian people inspire us in this war,” Pezeshkian wrote on Twitter in Russian.
“The resistance and courage of the Iranian people promise new ties that will provide East Asia with security by the countries of the region. On behalf of the people of Iran, I thank the government and the people of Russia.”
The Washington Post, citing sources, has reported that Russia is providing Iran with intelligence on the locations of U.S. warships and aircraft in the Middle East.
On March 20, Politico, also citing sources, reported that Russia offered the United States a deal under which the Kremlin would stop sharing intelligence with Iran if Washington stopped providing Ukraine with intelligence on Russia. U.S. officials reportedly rejected the offer.
Alex Ward of The Wall Street Journal said on March 26 that at least three Republican members of Congress have hinted at possible preparations for a ground operation in Iran in the near term.
On March 25, The New York Times, citing diplomatic
sources, reported that the United States had sent Iran a 15-point plan via
Pakistan aimed at ending the war. The plan reportedly addressed Iran's
ballistic missile program and nuclear weapons. Iran, in turn, has proposed its
own cease-fire terms, demanding military reparations and giving Tehran sole
control over the Strait of Hormuz.
