“Today I am pleased to announce that we will provide EUR100 million in nonlethal military aid and an additional EUR25 million to help Ukraine support its energy system,” Martin said during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Dublin on Dec. 2.
Martin added that Ireland has already provided more than EUR340 million ($395 million) to Ukraine, including EUR173 million ($201 million) in humanitarian aid and EUR166 million ($193 million) for nonlethal military support.
Zelenskyy and first lady Olena Zelenska arrived in Ireland and met with President Catherine Connolly earlier the same day. Zelenskyy was also scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Helen McEntee and take part in the opening of the Irish–Ukrainian Economic Forum.
On Dec. 1, during a briefing with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, Zelenskyy said that National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov would arrive in Ireland on Dec. 2 to report on the results of the peace talks held in Miami, Florida, over the weekend with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and State Secretary Marco Rubio.
