Sybiha said friendly ties between Ukraine and Israel should benefit both countries, and that illegal trade in stolen grain should not jeopardize those relations.
“It is difficult to understand Israel’s lack of an adequate response to Ukraine’s lawful request regarding the previous vessel that delivered stolen goods to Haifa,” the minister said.
“Now that another such ship has arrived in Haifa, we again warn Israel against accepting stolen grain and harming our relations.”
Sybiha added that Israel’s ambassador has been officially summoned for April 28 to receive a note of protest and a demand to take appropriate measures.
In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said diplomatic issues between friendly countries should be handled through proper channels, not on social media or in the press.
“Allegations are not evidence; evidence substantiating the allegations have yet to be provided,” Sa’ar said in a Twitter post.
“You did not even submit a request for legal assistance
before turning to the media and social networks. The matter will be examined.”
