Updated at 4:57 p.m. The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that a 61-year-old Supreme Court judge delivering humanitarian aid was killed in an attack on a civilian car in Kozacha Lopan.
A photo of the damaged Mitsubishi Lancer, where the man died, was released by the agency. Preliminary reports indicate that three women injured in the incident were also in the car.
A pre-trial investigation is underway into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder under Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.
Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Synehubov, confirmed that the injured women were hospitalized and that details regarding the deceased are being established.
On Aug. 21, Russian forces struck Kozacha Lopan, damaging the village council.
On Aug. 23, two bodies were recovered from the rubble, and Vyacheslav Zadorenko, head of the Dergachyv city military administration, reported that Russian artillery and FPV drones targeted policemen, rescuers, and local residents clearing debris, resulting in injuries to three policemen.
"The equipment of the State Emergency Service and the Dergachyv city funeral service was also damaged, with the occupiers cynically targeting the funeral car during the evacuation of the deceased," he added.
