Squid Game star aids Ukraine in crucial war moment

Yim Si-wan, K-pop idol starring in Netflix's second season of Squid Game, financially supported Ukraine and local businesses by booking a long-term stay in Kyiv days after Russia's full-scale invasion, according to his post on Instagram on March 4, 2022.

"Hi. I just booked your apartment for a month. Of course I'm not coming. I hope you and the people in Kyiv will be safe," he wrote, posting a screenshot of an Airbnb booking.

He also donated 20 million Korean won (about $16,435) to the Ukrainian embassy in 2022.

Si-wan is a South Korean actor and singer. He is a member of the South Korean boy band ZE:A and its sub-group ZE:A Five. As an actor, he is best known for starring in the film The Attorney, and the television series Misaeng: Incomplete Life, which were both successful at the box office and in the ratings.

In the second season of The Squid Game, he plays Player 333, a former cryptocurrency influencer who has lost a significant amount of money.
