Adam Kadyrov, the son of Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov, appeared in public for the first time since reports said he had been involved in a car crash, independent Russian news outlet Agentstvo reported on Feb. 10.

Ramzan Kadyrov posted a short video on his Telegram channel that showed his son. Agentstvo said Adam appeared noticeably thinner than when he was last seen in mid-January.

The clip shows Kadyrov dining with his aide, Vismurad Aliyev. Adam enters the room and Kadyrov calls him “resurrected” in Russian before the conversation continues in Chechen.

Kadyrov said the video was filmed at 7:55 p.m. Feb. 10. Metadata reviewed by journalists indicated the recording time as 6:21 p.m., and the channel cautioned that the displayed time may not be accurate.

On Jan. 16, Russian and Chechen opposition media reported that Adam Kadyrov, the son of the Chechen leader, was hospitalized in Grozny after a traffic accident.

On the morning of Jan. 17, several Russian opposition outlets, citing data from FlightRadar, reported that a Russian Emergencies Ministry medical aircraft, which may have been carrying Adam Kadyrov, landed overnight at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. Ramzan Kadyrov’s aircraft landed shortly afterward.

Later, RFE/RL said Adam Kadyrov had regained consciousness and that his condition “does not raise concerns among doctors.”
