As of early July, the largest volumes of financing in this area have been allocated for the development of solar power plants, gas, and hydro, bio, and wind installations, as well as the purchase of generators, the insitution wrote.
In addition to generation, banks are financing energy storage projects — creating storage systems and purchasing inverters and batteries — as well as the modernization of heating equipment. The capacity of these projects over the two-year period reached 751 megawatts.
In total, over the past two years, banks have provided more than 5,000 loans to businesses amounting to UAH 52 billion (approximately $1.3 billion) and about 20,000 loans to the public amounting to UAH 4 billion ($100 million).
As of early July, the gross portfolio of energy loans to businesses, factoring in repayments, stands at UAH 34 billion ($850 million), and to the public at UAH 3 billion ($75 million).
The projects are being financed across 21 oblasts in the country.
"The energy memorandum has become a great example of effectively uniting the efforts of banks of various sizes, ownership forms, and business models," NBU Governor Andrii Pyshnyi stated.
"Supporting businesses and the country's economy as a whole, which are critically dependent on the functioning of the energy system, became their highest common goal, despite high competition and a general focus on commercial gain."
"We are grateful to the banks and are moving forward, balancing the support for the stability of the financial system and the promotion of economic development and recovery," he added.
