Podolyak believes that rescheduling the visit indicates that the new Trump administration is studying intelligence reports before attempting to compel Moscow and Kyiv to negotiate a ceasefire.
“This suggests that Trump's transitional administration already has a deep understanding of the nature of this war, understands Russia's motives, and realizes that it is impossible to simply ask Russia for something and expect a reasonable response,” the adviser told Ukrainian TV broadcasters.
Earlier, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed the postponement of Kellogg's visit to Ukraine. Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine and the United States are currently determining the timeline for the visit.
Previously, Reuters reported that Kellogg delayed his trip to Kyiv and other European capitals until after Trump's inauguration on Jan. 20, having initially planned the "fact-finding" trip to take place before the new president is sworn in.
