Russian forces launched several waves of attack drones on Odesa on New Year’s Eve, sparking fires across the city, regional Governor Serhiy Lysak reported on Telegram on Jan. 1.
A two-story residential building was damaged in an attack shortly before midnight. One of the enemy drones hit an apartment on the 17th floor of a high-rise building but it did not detonate.

Debris from intercepted drones caused several fires at infrastructure facilities. Power outages were reported at several critical enterprises.

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES), all fires in Odesa Oblast had been extinguished as of 9 a.m. There have been no reported casualties.

Explosions were also heard in Lutsk, in Ukraine’s western Volyn Oblast, on New Year’s Eve.
