War will continue: Kremlin responds to Trump’s shortened Russia ultimatum

“The ‘special military operation’ continues,” Peskov told regime-aligned media, claiming that Russia remains committed to a peace process aimed at settling the conflict while safeguarding its interests “during the settlement process.”

With that statement, the spokesman made clear that Russia’s war against Ukraine will go on.

On July 28, Trump said he was “very disappointed” in Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and planned to shorten the 50-day deadline he had previously set for Moscow to agree to end the war.

He declared that the new deadline for Russia would be “10 or 12 days.”

Earlier, Trump had threatened to impose 100% tariffs on Russian goods and introduce secondary sanctions on countries that continue purchasing Russian oil if Moscow refuses to strike a deal.

Reacting to Trump’s latest statements, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said Putin is unlikely to concede any of his war aims unless forced to do so by major Ukrainian victories on the battlefield.
