Russia will not propose a New Year’s cease-fire on the front lines – Peskov

“Nothing of the sort has been discussed; a completely different process is underway now,” he said.
Peskov was likely referring to talks with U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, which ended late at night in Moscow after nearly five hours.
Earlier, Reuters reported that the talks between Witkoff and Putin would focus on proposals to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, formulated after discussions between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Florida on Nov. 30.
Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov, commenting on the meeting between the Russian dictator and the U.S. delegation, said the parties had not yet reached a compromise on the peace plan.
On April 28, Vladimir Putin announced a “truce” for May 9 meant to last three days — from 12:00 a.m. on May 8 to 12:00 a.m. on May 11.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the Russian dictator’s proposal for a so-called “truce.” Ukraine insisted on a cease-fire of at least 30 days.
On May 8, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said the so-called truce turned out to be a farce, as attacks on the front did not stop.
Before that, Putin had announced another so-called “truce” ahead of Easter. It was supposed to be in effect from the evening of April 19 until midnight on April 21.
