Peskov said the negotiating process was “currently on pause”
because “the Americans have many other things to do.”
“So it is difficult now to gather in a trilateral format,”
he said.
Asked about a possible visit by a U.S. delegation to Kyiv,
Peskov said the Kremlin had no firm information that such a trip was being
planned.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s presidential office, said
in a Bloomberg interview published on April 4 that Ukraine expected a U.S.
delegation led by President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and
Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to arrive in April.
According to Budanov, the delegation could arrive soon after
Orthodox Easter, which falls on April 12 this year. He also said Republican
Sen. Lindsey Graham could join the team.
On April 3, Budanov said at a CEO Club Ukraine meeting that
the peace talks process involving Ukraine, Russia and the United States was
continuing but was “extremely difficult.”
On April 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took
part in talks with U.S. officials held by video link. Ukraine was also
represented by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov,
while the U.S. side included Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s
son-in-law Jared Kushner.
