“At present the Ukrainian side has no evidence that the drone belongs to Ukrainian operators,” Tykhyi said.
He added that Ukraine is open to cooperating with Greek authorities to clarify the circumstances of the incident if formal requests are made.
On May 10, German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, citing Greek media, reported that a sea drone carrying about 100 kilograms of explosives was found off the Ionian island of Lefkada. Greek outlets said fishermen first discovered the device on May 7 near a reef with its engine running, raising suspicions that operators may have lost control and the drone drifted ashore.
Some Greek media reported the device resembled Ukraine’s
Magura-class naval drone. AFP said Greek officials had not officially
commented, though Defense Minister Nikos Dendias had said the drone “belongs to
a foreign state.”
