Feb. 18-20, 2014, were the bloodiest days of the Revolution of Dignity. On Feb. 20, 48 protesters were killed in central Kyiv by security forces, the highest death toll during the months-long protests against then-president Viktor Yanuovych.
The Heavenly Hundred refers to 107 people killed during the Revolution of Dignity, as well as activists who died when Russia annexed Crimea and started the war in Donbas in early 2014.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska lit candles at portraits of the slain protesters and visited the Heavenly Hundred memorial.
Forty-nine foreign dignitaries took part in the
commemorations.
