“We have coordinated our steps - joint steps, our joint diplomacy and the work of teams to bring peace and security closer. We are preparing a meeting of our military representatives to prepare contingents,” he said, thanking Starmer for his support and stressing the importance of strong pressure on Russia.
“We appreciate Britain's position on putting pressure on Russia. The pressure must be strong enough to prevent Russia from expanding this war. Especially now, when Moscow is openly mocking our partners' attempts to promote a peaceful agenda: new drone strikes, constant brutal shelling. Only pressure can stop this and force Russia to peace.”
This follows French President Emmanuel Macron's March 27 announcement that a Franco-British team would be sent to Ukraine to help develop the "format of the Ukrainian army of the future."
“These would be forces from several countries (…) stationed at strategic points, identified jointly with the Ukrainians, who would sign an agreement on long-term support, military strengthening, and deterrence in the event of Russian aggression,” Macron said after the “coalition of the willing” summit in Paris.
