Former Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna may be appointed Ukraine's ambassador to the U.S., while Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is likely to become the National Security and Defense Council's (NSDC) secretary, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak claimed in his July 17 Telegram post.
It is not yet clear whether Umerov will be the NSDC Secretary or Deputy Secretary. The discussions are still ongoing, and the decision could change.
According to Zheleznyak, Washington has not approved Umerov’s candidacy as ambassador to the United States.
On the evening of July 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted Yulia Svyrydenko's candidacy to Parliament for a vote as the country's new prime minister.
