Ukraine is set to receive a $500 million tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following the completion of the eighth review of Extended Fund Facility (EFF) financial aid program, Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal said on June 30.

“Under the EFF program, Ukraine has already received more than $10 billion,” said Shmyhal.

“This is an important contribution to preserving our resilience and macrofinancial stability.”

Ukraine’s Finance Ministry also reported that the IMF recognized progress on meeting the EFF criteria as of late March.

“Ukraine’s economy remains resilient, and the performance indicators under the EFF program continue to be strong despite the full-scale war,” the ministry said.

“All quantitative efficiency criteria and indicative targets for the end of March were met.”

Among the key reforms, Ukraine has taken two steps under its cooperation with the IMF: introduced legislation to enable taxation of revenues made via digital platforms published a report on the findings of an external audit of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).

“In total, disbursements under the EFF program will amount to $10.6 billion; I am grateful to the Fund team for their productive work,” Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said.

With eight EFF tranches complete, the program is on track to disburse the planned $15.5 billion by 2027.
