Photos and videos are being shared online showing a column of black smoke in the sky.
The fire has been contained, according to the governor of Kursk Oblast, Aleksandr Smirnov. There were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. The governor also did not reveal what exactly was burning in the city.
Local Telegram channels reported that the fire had engulfed a military base.
