Latest Russian attack on energy facilities may have done more damage than previous strikes, Ukrenergo says

The repair teams of NPC Ukrenergo will begin to restore the attacked energy facilities as soon as the rescuers of the State Emergency Service eliminate the consequences of Russia’s missile strikes.

"Ukrenergo specialists are taking all measures to restore as soon as possible the power supply in the regions that are currently left without electricity," the statement reads.

Ukrenergo said that currently rolling blackouts are being applied in Kyiv City, and in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kirovohrad oblasts.

"Consumer restrictions are necessary to reduce the load on the electricity grid and avoid follow-on accidents after the power grids were damaged by (Russian) terrorist missile attacks," Ukrenergo said.

The company asked consumers to use electricity sparingly throughout the day and especially during peak consumption hours: from 06.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.

“Please do not use energy-intensive electrical appliances, turn off unnecessary lighting, postpone washing to the night hours,” Ukrenergo said.

“Such measures give our specialists the opportunity to stabilize the situation and carry out the necessary restoration work as quickly as possible. The enemy has only added to our anger. Anger gives us strength. But your understanding and support also give us strength.”

Russia attacked infrastructure facilities in the center and west of Ukraine on the morning of Oct. 22. In particular, the strikes on infrastructure facilities in Lutsk, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa oblasts were reported. In some places, this caused problems with both the electricity and water supplies.
