Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko claims that Belarus should be included in peace talks on Ukraine, according to the pro-government Telegram channel Pul Pervogo on Oct. 18.
Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko reiterated his stance that Belarus should be involved in peace talks on Ukraine, claiming he had conveyed this to both Ukraine and Russia.
He falsely asserted that Russia's war against Ukraine is also a problem for Belarus, adding, "I don’t want decisions made about us behind our backs." Lukashenko speculated that such negotiations could lead to outcomes where "half of the country would need to be given away."
Previously, he suggested Belarus could become the site of an escalation in the Ukraine-Russia war, alleging that the West allows for such a possibility.
