Zelenskyy gives Lukashenko one week to remove Russian drone relay stations

Russian war

If Belarus does not remove the drone control relay stations from its border with Ukraine, Kyiv will have no choice but to destroy them militarily, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on June 19.

“When Mr. Lukashenko says he does not want to be drawn into the war, he should at least be honest with his people, because it is not only him who can be drawn in — his whole country can be dragged in by Russia,” Zelenskyy said.

“From the first days of this war they killed children and adults — missiles flew from Belarus, from his country. He later called, apologized, and said he did not control it, that Russia acted on its soil. I do not believe that, but he has said it.”

Zelenskyy said Russia continues to try to pull Belarus into the conflict and that Lukashenko “understands that Ukraine will respond.”

“There is no need for extra words; on his towers there are relay stations — Russian relay stations, Belarusian — What difference does it make,” the president continued.

“Along two regions on his territory that border Ukraine there is equipment that corrects fire on Ukrainian civilians. We do not have such a strong front there where Ukraine and Belarus meet. They are killing civilians. There are relay stations on those towers. Can he remove them? Instead of saying he does not want to be in the war, he should remove or switch off that equipment.”

Zelenskyy urged Minsk to dismantle the relay stations, saying Ukraine would act if Belarus did not.

“I think a week will be enough for him to do this. Why do I say a week? Because every day our civilians die because of this, children are wounded. If he does not do it, we will,” he concluded.
