Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko ordered a surprise check of his country's armed forces' combat readiness, placing the army on the highest alert level, the Belarusian Defense Ministry reported on Telegram on Oct. 11.

The review involves moving several units to designated areas to “carry out specified actions.”

The inspection is being overseen by the State Secretariat of Belarus' Security Council, the ministry added.

On Sept. 30, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War reported that Russia and Belarus may be preparing sabotage operations in Poland that they plan to blame on Ukraine, including attacks on Polish critical infrastructure.

Poland and Estonia had previously urged their citizens to leave Belarus and avoid travel there.
