Sources told the journalists that consultations on this issue are expected to accelerate in the coming days, with the deployment possibly being announced during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to France on June 6, where he will attend the commemoration of D-Day landings in Normandy.
On May 30, Reuters reported that France may soon send military instructors to Ukraine despite concerns from some allies and criticism from Russia.
On May 27, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said that he had signed the necessary documents to allow French personnel to integrate in Ukraine’s military training structure. The French Defense Ministry later said the move has been under discussion since February, though no decision has been finalized yet.
