Russia hits Ukraine with missiles, drones, killing at least 11

Russian forces struck Ukraine overnight into March 8 with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, one Iskander-K cruise missile, and 145 Shahed UAVs and decoy drones, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram.

Air defenses shot down the Iskander-K missile and 79 drones across Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, and Odesa oblasts.

 Another 54 decoy drones were “lost” from radar, per the Air Force.  

The attack damaged civilian infrastructure in Donetsk, Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odesa oblasts. 

Air raid alerts sounded across multiple regions overnight. In Poltava Oblast, the strike hit civilian targets, causing destruction.  

In Donetsk Oblast’s Dobropillya, Russian Shahed drones struck apartment buildings, killing at least 11 people and injuring 30. During cleanup, a second strike targeted rescuers. 

In Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv Oblast, a Shahed attack hit a civilian business, leaving three dead.
