Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 63 of 76 Russian Shahed drones and decoy drones launched overnight into May 21, causing damage in Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kyiv oblasts, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram.
The drones were launched from Kursk, Oryol, and Bryansk in Russia, targeting eastern, northern, and central Ukraine.
Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) teams, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups countered the attack, downing 22 drones with firepower and disabling 41 through EW or loss of signal, according to the report.
In Sumy, 11 explosions disrupted electricity and water supply, damaging enterprises and industrial sites, according to the Sumy water utility.
In Kyiv’s Boryspil district, a family with three children was injured by a Shahed drone strike.
