Tofan made the statement during a media briefing in Kyiv
with Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi, according to Suspilne public
broadcaster. Tofan said five such incidents had been recorded in a single day.
He stressed that Moldova could not ignore the threats to its airspace. The
Moldovan PM praised Ukraine’s experience in combating drones, including its use
of effective and inexpensive technological solutions.
“We want to adopt this experience and find solutions to
protect our airspace,” he said.
Tofan also said Moldova’s neutral status did not exempt the
country from its responsibility to protect its citizens.
The PM reaffirmed Chisinau’s support for Ukraine. He said
Moldova supported a just and lasting peace and believed Russia must answer for
its actions and return all Ukrainian children who had been deported.
Moldova will also continue providing Ukraine with political,
diplomatic and humanitarian assistance, he said.
During talks in Kyiv, the sides also discussed cooperation
in the gas and energy sectors, as well as opportunities for Ukrainian companies
to enter the Moldovan market, particularly in logistics and warehousing.
Tofan said the countries were working to develop road and
rail routes, modernize border crossings, and expand joint border controls. He
said the measures would help boost trade, attract investment and support
Ukraine’s reconstruction.
