The minister made the statement during a Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in London.
“Besides the steady supply of weapons systems and ammunition, Germany is now delivering two complete Patriot systems to Ukraine,” Ukrainian news agency Interfax-Ukraine quoted Pistorius.
“The first launchers have been handed over to Ukraine.”
The 30th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group began Tuesday evening in London. Along with Pistorius, UK Defense Secretary John Healey, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal are attending in person, while other officials are participating online.
On Aug. 1, the German Defense Ministry announced it would provide additional Patriot launchers to Ukraine on an expedited schedule.
Under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense, Germany will also be the first to receive newly produced Patriot systems with German funding.
