Monitoring Telegram channels published videos showing drones
over Moscow and the surrounding region. Exilenova+ wrote that a new
combined attack had begun, with UAVs approaching Moscow from different
directions.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin wrote that Russian air defenses
had allegedly “shot down” about 35 UAVs flying toward Moscow during the day on
June 19 and reported falling drone “debris.”
Russian media reported that Sheremetyevo Airport was sending
and receiving flights “by agreement.”
“Moscow stability now means drones in the sky, because
Russians and Muscovites chose Putin, who brought the war into their homes,” said Andriy Kovalenko, head of the
National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation.
The latest UAV attack on Moscow is the third in recent days.
Attack on Moscow on June 18
Moscow came under a large-scale drone attack on the morning
of June 18. Sobyanin said Russian air defenses had allegedly “shot down” about
200 drones flying toward the Russian capital.
Ukraine’s defense forces later confirmed that they had again
struck Moscow’s largest oil refinery, located in the Kapotnya district about 15
kilometers (9 miles) from the Kremlin. Large fires broke out at the plant in at
least five locations, and black smoke blanketed Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the strike on
the Moscow oil refinery a response to Russia’s attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk
Lavra.
Russian media reported that it was the largest attack on the
Russian capital since the start of the war. All Moscow airports imposed
restrictions on departures and arrivals.
It was the second attack on the Moscow oil refinery in two
days. On June 16, drones from Ukraine’s SBU Security Service damaged the “heart
of the plant” — a key primary oil-refining unit. The Moscow plant stopped
operating after the previous drone attack.
