Russia rejects second Global Peace Summit, slams Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula

This follows an earlier report by Bloomberg on July 10 that Kyiv wanted to hold a second Global Peace Summit with Russia in attendance to achieve a fair peace settlement ahead of the November elections in the USA.

The push to organize the Summit before the US elections indicates Ukraine's concerns about the prospect of Donald Trump returning to the White House.

Zelenskyy called on the US to help organize the second summit to make it "more significant and truly decisive," speaking at the Reagan Institute in Washington on July 9

Switzerland hosted the first Global Peace Summit initiated by Ukraine on June 15-16, to which Russia was not invited. China refused to participate in the event.

The summit was attended by 100 delegations, including 57 heads of state and government from all regions of the world.

The Office of the President of Ukraine published the full text of the joint communiqué on the foundations of peace on June 16. In the document, the participating countries condemn Russia's war against Ukraine, insist on ensuring the operation of nuclear power plants, the release of prisoners, and maintaining safe commercial shipping and access to seaports in the Black and Azov seas.
